Communications and Social Media Marketing Intern

Approximate Hours per Week:     10

Position Description:

This opportunity is appropriate for students with a broad spectrum of interests, but who wish to gain in-depth knowledge about the communications field, entrepreneurship, banking, economic development, or the nonprofit sector.

This is a cooperative internship, working hand-in-hand in a creative environment with staff and board members, implementing a dynamic social media strategy and presence for FSC First in the community. Projects include weekly and/or bi-weekly email communications and design, develop and produce monthly e-Newsletter and design and product marketing brochures and collateral. Projects also include supporting marketing and communications efforts for FSC First special events such as receptions and client trainings.

Office Computer



Software Knowledge:

Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel, Outlook and Internet Explorer. Constant Contact and InDesign or related design/publishing software.


Familiarity with the communications process

Interest in the Nonprofit Sector

Understanding of components and development of a Communication Strategy

Professional knowledge and hands on experience of Social media applications and campaigns (LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, Google+) Courteous and professional with attention to detail

Have a minimum of 3.0 GPA

An inquisitive intellect, independent spirit and maturity are key attributes for the successful candidate.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to sit for long periods of time. Must be able to converse directly and by phone. Must be able to concentrate for long periods of times.

Our non-profit organization is a small company with many competing priorities. The ability to react to a changing environment and work across all levels of staff and management is necessary to be successful. The candidate must possess a strong initiative and positive attitude.
